Coconut Broom Stick Price per Kg vs per Piece: A Wholesale Buyer’s Guide

Ask five suppliers for a coconut broom rate and you may get five different units: per piece, per bundle, per dozen, per kg, or per 50 kg bag. That is why searches for coconut broom stick price per kg are so common, and why so many buyers end up comparing quotes that are not actually comparable. This guide explains what each unit means and how to convert between them.

We are Ramnad Agro, a family wholesale business in MPK Valasai, Ramanathapuram, supplying hand-tied coconut leaf brooms (thenna eeki / eerkuchi) to shops and distributors since 1998. We do not publish prices, but we can show you how to read anyone’s price, including ours.

Why some sellers quote per kg and others per piece

The unit usually tells you what kind of product is being sold.

  • Per kg is common for loose coconut broom sticks (eerkuchi) sold in sacks to broom makers, and sometimes for finished brooms sold in bulk by weight. You pay for raw material; the tying and finishing may or may not be included.
  • Per piece or per bundle is common for finished, tied brooms that go straight onto a shop shelf. Retailers like this because they sell by the piece and can see their margin at a glance.

Neither unit is better. The trap is comparing a per-kg rate from one seller with a per-piece rate from another without converting.

How to convert a coconut broom stick price per kg into a price per piece

You need one number: the average weight of one broom. Ask every supplier for it. Then:

  1. Price per piece = price per kg × broom weight in kg.
  2. Price per kg = price per piece ÷ broom weight in kg.
  3. Check against a bundle: weigh a full bundle, divide by the count, and see if the average matches what you were told.

Our standard coconut broom is about 75–90 cm long and weighs about 350–500 g. The table shows what that means for bundles and a minimum order.

ItemBroom at ~350 gBroom at ~500 g
Brooms per kgabout 2.92
Bundle of 10about 3.5 kgabout 5 kg
Bundle of 25about 8.75 kgabout 12.5 kg
1,000 brooms (our MOQ)about 350 kgabout 500 kg

Because rib thickness varies naturally, weights vary a little from broom to broom. That is why we count orders by bundle and check them by average bundle weight.

What marketplace prices look like (and why they mislead)

As seen on IndiaMART listings in October 2026, sellers’ asking prices for coconut brooms ran from about ₹16 to ₹145 per piece, and loose sticks from about ₹17 to ₹70 per kg, often in 50 kg bags. Rates change, and these are asking prices, not market rates.

The spread is wide because the listings cover very different products: short hand brooms and long ones, 80 sticks and 450 sticks, no handle and steel-ring handles, polished sticks and rough ones. A low headline price often means a lighter broom.

What actually changes the coconut broom wholesale price

Weight and stick count

This is the biggest factor. More sticks means more raw material and a fuller sweep. Two brooms of the same length can differ by 150 g or more.

Length and finish

Longer brooms use longer ribs, which are fewer per frond. Clean, trimmed ribs with the leaf waste removed take more labour than rough ones.

Handle and binding

Handle-fitted brooms and wire or strap binding add material cost. A plain hand-tied broom is the simplest format.

Quantity and freight

A full lorry load is cheaper per broom than a shared load or parcel. Distance from Tamil Nadu to your city matters a lot for a bulky, light product.

Worked example: turning two quotes into one number

Say Supplier A quotes a rate per kg for brooms of about 400 g, and Supplier B quotes a rate per bundle of 10 brooms of about 500 g each, freight extra. To compare them:

  1. Supplier A: multiply the per-kg rate by 0.4 to get the price of one broom.
  2. Supplier B: divide the bundle rate by 10 to get the price of one broom.
  3. Add each supplier’s freight to your city, divided by the number of brooms in the load.
  4. Now compare price per broom delivered, and remember that B’s broom carries 25% more sticks.

Often the broom that looks dearer per piece is cheaper per gram, and lasts longer in your customer’s hands. That is the number that decides repeat sales.

How brooms are packed for trucks

Brooms are bulky for their weight, so a lorry usually fills up by space before it reaches its weight limit. Packing affects your landed cost as much as the broom rate does.

  • We pack coconut brooms in bundles of 10 or 25, stacked to fill the lorry well.
  • Bundles of 10 suit shops that restock often; bundles of 25 suit distributors who break bulk.
  • Ask any supplier how many bundles go on a lorry to your city. That figure turns a broom price into a delivered price.

Frequently asked questions

Is it better to buy coconut brooms per kg or per piece?

Retailers usually prefer per-piece or per-bundle pricing because they sell by the piece. Per-kg pricing is common for loose sticks sold to broom makers. Whichever unit you are quoted, convert it using the weight per broom so you can compare offers fairly.

How many coconut brooms are there in one kg?

It depends on the broom. A standard broom of about 350–500 g works out to roughly two to three brooms per kg. Heavier brooms with more sticks mean fewer brooms per kg.

Does Ramnad Agro publish a coconut broom price list?

No. Rates change with supply and freight, so we quote for each order based on broom weight, bundle size, quantity and your delivery city.

What is the minimum order for coconut brooms?

100 bundles of 10 brooms, which is 1,000 brooms. Bundles of 25 are also available.
